Afghan Taliban officials stated on Tuesday (November 7th) that a small bus in Kabul was bombed, resulting in at least 7 civilian deaths and 20 injuries.
A police spokesperson confirmed the casualties, stating that the fatal explosion that night occurred in the western part of the Shia Muslim community in the capital of Afghanistan, in the D'Astbach area.
Spokesperson Khalid Zadran stated that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.
No organization immediately claimed responsibility for this, but the suspect is the regional branch of the Islamic State, Islamic State of Khorasan (IS-K).
The organization has previously launched attacks on Afghan Shia demonstrators, places of worship, and schools in Kabul and other parts of the country, claiming responsibility for the attacks.
Last month, IS-K conducted two bomb attacks on a gym in Dustbach and a gathering of Shia clerics in Baghlan Province in northern Afghanistan. The explosion resulted in the deaths of 4 people and 10 religious scholars, respectively.
Since seizing power two years ago, the Taliban has carried out multiple anti-terrorism operations against the country's IS-K hideouts, killing several IS-K main commanders. But the organization remains a significant security challenge faced by the de facto Afghan authorities.
