In the past year, the number of goods sold by Chinese sellers to consumers, as well as corporate and institutional customers through Amazon's global site, has increased by over 20% year-on-year; In the past two years, the number of Chinese sellers with sales exceeding $1 million on Amazon's global sites has increased by nearly 55%; The number of Chinese sellers with sales exceeding 10 million US dollars has increased by nearly 60%... On December 9th, the "High quality Going Global, Innovative Chain Future -2024 Amazon Global Store Cross border Summit" opened in Nanjing. At the summit, Amazon Global Store reviewed the progress made by Chinese companies on Amazon over the past year and released more than 30 new measures around the three key areas of its 2025 business strategy, namely innovation assistance, opportunity expansion, and local empowerment.
Cindy Tai, Vice President of Amazon Global and Executive President of Amazon Global Store Asia Pacific, said, "Amazon Global Store has held cross-border summits for ten consecutive years. In the past decade, we are honored to work together with Chinese sellers and industry stakeholders to promote the evolution of cross-border e-commerce from extensive growth to today's digital, compliant, refined, branded, and globalized high-quality overseas, and gradually become one of the driving forces for China's foreign trade innovation and development. Today, high-quality overseas has become a consensus in the industry, and systematic innovation is a necessary path for future overseas expansion, with the aim of creating excellent experiences for customers. Against the backdrop of rapid development of global e-commerce, China's cross-border e-commerce export industry is thriving and holds enormous potential. The industry is facing three major opportunities of supply chain innovation, redefining categories, and the second rise of industrial belts
It is reported that in 2025, Amazon will focus on three major areas: supply chain solutions, AI empowerment, and seller experience upgrades, as well as high-quality product selection and brand building. Through product and tool innovation, Amazon will assist sellers in comprehensively improving the efficiency and quality of their supply chain, operations, product selection, and brand building. In terms of supply chain services, based on the Amazon Supply Chain by Amazon solution released last year, this year Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Managed Service for Chinese sellers. This is an end-to-end cross-border supply chain hosting service, where sellers only need to provide product details and pickup locations, while Amazon is responsible for completing tasks such as product pickup, inventory integration, cross-border transportation, warehousing, warehousing, strategic replenishment, "last mile" delivery, and continuously analyzing customer demand, inventory levels, and cost data to optimize overall processes and efficiency.
Amazon has announced that the beta version of its seller assistant, Project Amelia, will soon support Chinese and be open for testing by some Chinese sellers. Since the launch of the product detail page function based on generative AI in June this year, over 650000 sellers worldwide have used it. The two latest developments of this feature include the upcoming batch product detail page creation function. Sellers can use their own formatted spreadsheets, and Amazon's generative AI will automatically read, convert, and optimize the table information to create multiple high-quality product detail pages in bulk; The second is the A+content creation function, which generates attractive and informative content based on product description phrases and images, including vivid and realistic life scenario based images.
Next year, the Irish site will be opened to Chinese sellers
Facing the increasingly fierce competition in the global cross-border market, how can Chinese sellers gain the favor of global consumers ahead of others? At the summit on the same day, the platform announced the category data with significant sales growth this year: in 2024, Amazon achieved strong growth in sales of many high priced products such as smart devices, furniture, automotive and motorcycle accessories, sports, as well as low priced products such as clothing, kitchen, home, and electronic accessories. Since the beginning of this year, Chinese sellers have seen an increase of over 30% in sales of high priced items in categories such as furniture, lawns and gardens, and sports equipment on Amazon's US and European sites.
Earlier, there was further news about the "Amazon Haul" that sparked external interest. The project was announced to be launched in November this year. "Based on our observation, global users have a demand for low-priced products, even if it requires a slightly longer delivery time." The relevant person in charge of Amazon stated that "Amazon Haul" is a new shopping experience on the Amazon shopping app and mobile website, where customers can find more affordable and super low-priced products. The prices of the products are all around $20 or below, with the vast majority of products priced below $10, covering categories such as fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics, etc. The usual delivery time is 1-2 weeks. The project has expanded the customer base for sellers who have a demand for low-priced products. Currently, the project is an invitation based system for sellers, "said the person in charge.
In addition to helping sellers expand their customer base with low-priced demand, Amazon has announced that it will open its Irish site to Chinese sellers by 2025, making it the tenth site in Europe to be opened to Chinese sellers. With the opening of this site, Chinese sellers will be able to conduct business on Amazon's 20 international sites worldwide, including not only mature e-commerce regions such as the United States, Europe, and Japan, but also emerging regions such as Latin America and the Middle East, which have led the world in e-commerce growth in recent years. Data shows that since the beginning of this year, Amazon seller sales have achieved double-digit growth in nearly 70% of provinces in China, with growth rates exceeding 20% in nearly 10 provinces.
