According to an independent study by market tracking firm International Data Corporation (IDC), global smartphone sales rebounded strongly in 2024 after two consecutive years of decline, but Apple Inc. (AAPL. O) saw almost no growth, highlighting the rapid rise of Android based competitors in China and emerging markets. IDC predicts that by 2024, the shipment volume of mobile phones by Apple and its competitors will increase by 6.2% to 1.24 billion units. But iPhone sales may only increase by 0.4%. However, according to IDC estimates, Apple remains the profit leader so far, with an average selling price of over $1000, while Android competitors have an average selling price of around $295.
