Shanghai, November 13 (Xinhua) -- Chip manufacturer Nvidia and SoftBank Group's telecommunications division, SoftBank, announced on Wednesday that the two companies have tested the world's first artificial intelligence and 5G telecommunications network.
The two companies stated that the network can run both artificial intelligence and 5G workloads simultaneously, a process known as Artificial Intelligence Wireless Access Network (AI-RAN). Applications of the network include remote support of autonomous vehicle and robot control.
Nvidia founder and CEO Huang Renxun also stated that SoftBank is one of the first companies to receive its new Blackwell chip designs, and is integrating these designs into its ongoing development of artificial intelligence supercomputers to create its own generative artificial intelligence models.
