Recently, many Internet giants have been intensively "fighting against corruption".
On November 8th, it was reported that NetEase issued an internal email to all employees this morning regarding the strict investigation of corruption. The email notification stated that the company has recently seriously investigated and dealt with two cases of fraud, corruption, and illegal activities.
One of them is Xiang, the former head of the Battle and KK business units, Jin, the former head of the Interactive Entertainment Channel Distribution Center, Xu, an employee of the Interactive Entertainment Market Center, Zhao, a former employee of the Interactive Entertainment Channel Distribution Center, Wu, a former employee of the Interactive Entertainment Market Center, Lu, a former employee of the Battle business unit, and Lin, a former employee of the Interactive Entertainment Market Center. During their employment, they were suspected of fraud, corruption, and illegal activities and have been criminally investigated by the public security organs, and criminal coercive measures have been taken in accordance with the law. Xiang, Jin, Xu, and Zhao have had their labor contracts terminated by the company and will never be employed.
Secondly, employees Pan and Shen from the Battle Business Unit were suspected of fraud, corruption, and illegal activities during their tenure and have been criminally filed by the public security organs, with criminal coercive measures taken in accordance with the law. Pan and Shen have had their labor contracts terminated by the company and will never be hired.
The reporter noticed that there have been recent media reports that executives in NetEase's gaming division have been investigated for corruption, including Xiang, the former head of the Battle and KK divisions mentioned in this announcement.
According to public information, Xiang has served as the General Manager of NetEase's Game Marketing Department, as well as the Head of NetEase's Battle and KK Business Units, responsible for large-scale PC games such as "Journey to the West", "Tianyu", "Wilderness Action Plus", and mobile games such as "Journey to the West", "Bright Continent", "My World", "Decisive Battle! Ping'an Jing", and "The Fifth Personality".
In the early hours of this morning, in response to rumors about anti-corruption investigations from the outside world, NetEase's relevant public relations personnel responded on WeChat Moments, emphasizing NetEase's strict anti-corruption attitude internally and clarifying the false rumors.
NetEase's public relations department stated that NetEase's anti-corruption efforts have never stopped. As the case is still under investigation, specific information cannot be disclosed and will be reported at an appropriate time. The money laundering and other rumors circulating online are purely rumors. NetEase has arranged to report this to the police and called for "not spreading rumors, not believing rumors, and not spreading rumors".
People close to NetEase also said that as a large Internet listed company, internal audit is a necessary link every year, "there is no external said internal surprise attack".
On the same day, a spokesperson for Weibo issued a Weibo anti fraud statement, stating that Weibo attaches great importance to operating in accordance with the law, using the "Employee Behavior Manual" and "Guidelines for Avoiding Conflicts of Interest" as the basic systems, strengthening internal compliance propaganda and improving reporting channels as the main means, and increasing the crackdown on commercial bribery, job embezzlement, and other behaviors, practicing the business philosophy of "integrity, openness, and fairness".
Weibo has always taken a "zero tolerance" and "no mercy" attitude towards corruption and bribery. If any violation of laws, regulations or compliance requirements is found, once verified, the employees involved will be dismissed and never employed. If any relevant behavior is suspected of illegal or criminal activities, the company will fully cooperate with the judicial authorities to investigate and hold the individuals involved legally responsible. For external companies involved in the case, they will be blacklisted and will never cooperate.
According to the report, since 2021, the Compliance and Supervision Department has discovered and investigated 9 cases of employee fraud, and 17 people have had their labor contracts terminated. Among them, 10 people were transferred to judicial authorities for suspected crimes.
Since this year, Tiktok, Tencent, Meituan and other leading Internet enterprises have issued anti fraud notices, involving hundreds of employees who violated the red line of integrity and were dismissed, and many people who were suspected of committing crimes were transferred to the judicial authorities.
Just a few days ago, ByteDance internally released the fourth Report of the Enterprise Discipline and Professional Ethics Committee within the year. According to the report, 103 people (including outsourcing and interns) were dismissed for illegal and irregular behavior, of which 11 people were investigated by the public security organs for suspected criminal offenses.
It is worth noting that in this internal bulletin, ByteDance also disclosed the recent intern model breaking training event that has attracted attention from the outside world.
According to the report, from June to July 2024, Tian, a former intern of Commercial Products and Technology, maliciously attacked the model training task of the team's research project through writing and tampering with code due to dissatisfaction with the allocation of team resources, resulting in resource depletion. The company has terminated the internship agreement with him, synchronized with the Sunshine Integrity Alliance and the Enterprise Anti Fraud Alliance, and synchronized with his school for processing.
