On October 27th, Southern Finance and Economics reported that while demand for Nvidia's new generation AI chip GB200 has exploded, the once popular H100 chip has somewhat cooled down. The reporter learned from an industry insider who works in computing resource pools that servers equipped with H100 are generally sold or rented in the form of 8-card. Last year, the selling price of 8-card machines was generally above 3 million yuan, but now the price has dropped to around 2.3 million to 2.4 million yuan, "one price per week". And Nvidia's price for the H20 chip and 8-card machine supplied by Walter has also dropped from around 1.4 million yuan to less than 1.1 million yuan. The initial rental price for the H100 chip was $4.7 per hour, and it was once hyped to over $8 per hour during the peak demand period. The reporter found through a search on a computing rental website that the rental price of one H100NVL is now between 2-3 US dollars per hour, which has dropped by more than 50% compared to its peak period. The reporter learned from industry insiders that since the first half of this year, the price of computing power in China has shown a downward trend. Against the backdrop of a decline in demand for large model training and early "hoarding" leading to relative oversupply, some smaller computing power suppliers may face losses and are accelerating their "washing" out of the market.
