As the election enters its final sprint stage, American fast food giant McDonald's has also become a new battlefield for the election.
On Sunday, former US President and Republican presidential candidate Trump visited a McDonald's window in Pennsylvania and worked there for a short period of time.
At a McDonald's restaurant in Bucks County, Trump took off his suit jacket, tied a black apron, fried French fries, and personally handed them to customers in the food lane. Thousands of people stood on the street opposite McDonald's to watch.
Trump stated that this is something he has wanted to do for his entire life. I like this job, it's very interesting, "he said.
Trump also stated that part of the reason he worked at McDonald's was to mock his Democratic rival Harris, who said she had worked at McDonald's when she was young.
I work 15 minutes more than Kamala now, "Trump joked.
Harris' campaign team released an advertisement in August emphasizing her upbringing to attract middle-class voters. The advertisement states that Harris worked at McDonald's while pursuing a college degree at Howard University. She also mentioned this experience in past election campaigns.
Trump and his allies have repeatedly hinted that Harris did not actually work at McDonald's because her resume did not list this work experience.
Regarding Trump's action of frying French fries at McDonald's, Harris spokesperson Sams told the media that Trump did this gimmick because he was at a dead end.
He only knows how to lie and cannot understand the meaning of working summer jobs. He earned millions of dollars (relying on his father), but he squandered all of it, "said Sams.
The reason why candidates from both parties in the United States are so concerned about their work experience at McDonald's is because it represents their closeness to the working class.
However, Trump's love for fast food is well known. He was once photographed eating McDonald's on his campaign plane, and in 2019, he provided McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King to college athletes visiting the White House.
Currently, multiple polls show that Harris and Trump's approval ratings are almost evenly matched.
Pennsylvania, which has 19 electoral votes, is considered the most crucial battleground state for Trump and Harris to compete for the presidency, and may ultimately determine the winner of the election. As the election enters its final weeks, both candidates are actively campaigning here.
