Reported by Yang Qingqing, a 21st Century Economic Reporter, from Beijing
On November 6th, a reporter from 21st Century Economic Report learned from Baidu that Baidu announced a new round of cadre promotion and rotation through internal emails: Wang Yunpeng, Baidu Vice President and General Manager of the Autonomous Driving Business Unit, was promoted to Vice President of the group and served as the head of Baidu's Intelligent Driving Business Group (IDG), reporting to the CEO.
At the same time, Li Zhenyu, Senior Vice President of Baidu Group, no longer serves as the head of IDG and is rotating to the position of CEO Assistant and Chairman of the Group's Technology Ethics Committee, reporting to the CEO.
According to data, Wang Yunpeng graduated from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and joined Baidu in 2012. He has served as the head of Baidu's engineering efficiency department, analysis and planning department, financial platform department, and other business departments. In 2018, he served as the director of Baidu's autonomous driving technology department. In April 2021, Wang Yunpeng was promoted to Vice President of Baidu, fully responsible for Baidu's autonomous driving business.
During the period when Wang Yunpeng was responsible for Baidu's autonomous driving business, Baidu released the first pure visual solution (Apollo Lite) to achieve autonomous driving on complex urban roads in China, launched 5G cloud proxy driving, and launched large-scale unmanned driving testing; Led a team to organize the development of Baidu's sixth generation mass-produced unmanned vehicle, the Apollo RT6.
It is worth mentioning that Wang Yunpeng led the team to build the Baidu's autonomous driving travel service platform, the Radish Quick Run fully autonomous driving fleet, which has entered cities in China, including Wuhan, Beijing, Chongqing, and other cities. It is the first enterprise to carry out fully autonomous driving operation and testing in multiple cities across the country. As of the end of January 2023, the cumulative order volume of Radish Run has exceeded 2 million, making it the world's largest autonomous driving travel service provider.
In other words, Wang Yunpeng's work achievements are more oriented towards the commercialization of Baidu's autonomous driving business. Industry analysis shows that this cadre rotation will be beneficial for Baidu to further build and consolidate its core advantages in the field of intelligent driving, and promote business development.
As of the close on November 6th, Baidu Group SW (09888. HK) rose 2.75% to HKD 108.2, with a total market value of HKD 306.1 billion.
