On September 23rd, according to foreign media reports, JetBlue Airlines announced that on the evening of the 21st local time, a JetBlue aircraft flying from New York to San Diego made an emergency landing in Salina, Kansas due to a smoke alert received by the pilot.
According to reports, passenger Odell on board said that at the time, "the pilot turned on the intercom and said there was a smoke alarm," and "some passengers also reported hearing a loud noise, and then we quickly descended and finally landed at Salina Airport.
The report stated that all 130 people on board safely disembarked and there were no reports of casualties.
JetBlue Airways aircraft stated in a statement that the plane landed safely and "no accidents occurred". After inspection, it was found that the plane had a false alarm at that time.
Salina Fire Brigade Captain Herzog also said that there were no major issues with the plane, but the cockpit indicator lights were on, indicating an electrical system problem. The fire department is still waiting for engineers to investigate further.
The Federal Aviation Administration of the United States has stated that it will investigate this incident.
