The highly anticipated live interview between Elon Musk and Donald Trump on X platform encountered a technical malfunction before the start. After a delay of over 40 minutes, the interview finally began.
The interview, originally scheduled to start at 8pm local time on August 12th, was postponed due to technical issues. Many X users who attempted to watch this interview tried to join the live space before the interview began, but received a prompt saying 'this space is not available' and were unable to enter the live space smoothly.
Musk stated that X seems to have been subjected to a large-scale DDOS cyber attack, and we are working hard to prevent it. In the worst-case scenario, we will continue the interview with Trump with only a small on-site audience and release the conversation content later.
Just after 8:20 pm local time on August 12th, Musk attributed the screen freeze to a cyber attack. Musk said that the company had tested the system with 8 million concurrent listeners earlier on August 12th to prevent any technical errors and ensure that X's live streaming capabilities could handle the event.
Many people have responded on Trump's Twitter posts saying they have heard the same voice or are unable to enter.
In response to media requests for comment, a Trump campaign spokesperson pointed to Musk's post on X accusing potential cyber attacks.
Musk apologized for the delayed startup, stating that our servers were subjected to a large-scale DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack and all of our data lines were saturated.
In preparation for this interview, Musk conducted two live streaming tests on Sunday, attracting 2.1 million and 1.3 million views respectively.
This inevitably brings back memories of last year's campaign interview between Musk and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, which was postponed for nearly 30 minutes due to the platform's inability to accommodate nearly 500000 listeners at the same time.
This interview was promoted as a popular, news making event aimed at helping the Trump campaign revive its supporters after an unsettling three weeks.
It is worth mentioning that this interview was conducted spontaneously, without script, and the content has no thematic restrictions.
Previously, Trump posted several articles on social media platform X, including several campaign messages and a promotional copy of his upcoming interview with Musk, indicating that Trump will be banned from officially returning to X on January 6, 2021 due to the Capitol riot.
According to CCTV News on August 9th, US presidential candidates Trump and Harris have agreed to hold a debate on September 10th, hosted by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).
Trump expressed his willingness to engage in three debates with Harris in September on Fox News, NBC, and ABC. But the Harris campaign team has not yet confirmed this.
On July 21st, under political and public pressure, US President and Democrat Biden announced his withdrawal from running for re-election and supported Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate. Harris quickly gained widespread support within the Democratic Party. On the Republican side, former US President Trump became the party's presidential candidate for the third time.
