After several twists and turns, Trump and Harris finally confirmed the first debate time, which was scheduled to be held on ABC on September 10th.
This debate was originally agreed upon between Trump and Biden, but after Biden withdrew and Harris took over, Trump kept pushing back and reluctantly agreed on Thursday.
Trump stated at a press conference that he also wants to have two additional debates with Harris: one will be hosted by Fox News on September 4th, and the other will be hosted by NBC News on September 25th.
Harris said, "I'm glad to discuss the additional debate, but why don't we discuss it after September 10th (ABC's debate)
I have been making public statements all along, and I look forward to debating with Donald Trump. Our date is September 10th, "she added.
Fox had previously agreed to host a debate match for Trump and Harris on September 4th. A source familiar with the matter revealed that NBC has arranged multiple possible debate dates for the two presidential candidates. Trump's campaign team has agreed to hold the debate on September 25th, but Harris' campaign team has not yet agreed on this date.
Trump emphasized on Thursday, "I think holding a debate is very important." He also added that CBS News will host a vice presidential debate for his running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance and Harris' deputy, Minnesota Governor Waltz.
In recent times, Harris has been unstoppable in various polls, gradually showing a leading trend from being closely pursued to now.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday showed that Harris' lead over Trump is currently expanding, with her leading 42% to 37%. Compared to the same poll on July 22-23, she is only 37% ahead of Trump by 3 percentage points.
And more and more voters are questioning Trump's age issue. According to the latest Morning poll, 58% of respondents believed that Trump was in good physical condition before Biden announced his withdrawal from the election; But now, this number has dropped to 52%. More than half of the voters said that Trump is too old to run for office, compared to only 44% previously.
However, in the national average poll tracked by the Hill/Decision DESK HQ (DDHQ), Harris and Trump are almost tied, with Trump receiving 47.4% of the vote and Harris receiving a high 47.2%.
