Microsoft stated on the evening of July 19th that the root cause of the global disruption has been resolved, but the residual impact of the network security disruption continues to affect certain Office 365 applications and services.
On July 19th, multiple users reported blue screen issues on Windows computers. As a result, the operations of multiple airlines, banks, and media institutions worldwide have been affected. CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company, stated that the issue causing significant damage is not a security incident or cyber attack.
According to aviation analysis company Cirium, there are approximately 110000 commercial flight plans worldwide today, and as of 11:00 UK Standard Time, 1390 flights have been cancelled. Affected by the blue screen malfunction, Microsoft's pre-market stock price fell to 3% at one point, and as of press time, Microsoft's stock price has dropped by 1.29%.
