The Governor of the Central Bank of Canada, McLeem, has stated that we maintained policy interest rate stability last week because monetary policy is playing a role in stabilizing the economy and easing price pressures; that inflation is less likely to slow further and the risk of inflation increases; and that if inflationary pressure persists, we are prepared to further increase policy interest rates to restore price stability.
