The Apple iPhone is finally starting to support call recording, not only can calls be recorded, but the memo app also supports call recording.
On June 11th, Apple announced at the Global Developers Conference the launch of its personal intelligence system, Apple Intelligence, which introduces generative models for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. After the introduction of personal intelligence, the latest memo and phone apps allow users to record audio, transcribe audio into text, and generate content.
However, Apple emphasizes that when recording is enabled during a call, both parties will automatically receive a prompt. After the call, Apple Intelligence will generate a content to help users review the key points of the call.
Previously, Android phones supported call recording, but iPhone did not support this feature. The official reason from Apple is mainly based on considerations for user call security and personal privacy.
But with the introduction of "Apple Intelligence", Apple has changed this approach. Apple's new AI system "Apple Intelligence" is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, fully utilizing the chip's ability to understand and create language and images. It can perform multiple cross app operations, while combining personal scenarios to simplify and accelerate the daily task flow for users. In terms of supporting recording and transcription, it can help users quickly understand key information during calls, greatly improving their efficiency in processing a large number of call records, making information acquisition more efficient and intuitive.
Regarding Apple's emphasis on protecting user privacy, it stated that when the call recording function is enabled, all participants in the call will automatically receive notifications.
According to Apple's official website, the languages that support call recording include English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese.
It is worth noting that Apple did not provide detailed call recording and transcription functions. When consulting with Apple's Chinese customer service, a reporter from Pengpai News was informed that there may be changes before the official launch.
According to Apple's official press release, "Apple Intelligence" is available for free to users, and a beta version will be launched this fall as a built-in feature for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, only supporting English (in the United States). Some features, software platforms, and other language support will be gradually launched next year. At the same time, "Apple Intelligence" will only support iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac devices equipped with M1 or subsequent chips, and Siri and devices need to be set to English (in the United States).
