On May 24th, Amazon announced the launch of the "2024 Amazon Export Cross border Logistics Accelerator Program" in China, leveraging its globally leading logistics infrastructure and innovative technology, combined with local resources, to continuously optimize cross-border logistics services, help Chinese sellers improve cross-border logistics supply chain management, enhance logistics supply chain management capabilities and efficiency.
It is understood that the plan covers a series of logistics innovations and measures, including cross-border logistics services, destination warehousing, etc. Amazon will further improve and enhance its localized services by establishing an Amazon Warehouse Distribution Network (AWD) local support team in China to better respond to sellers' cross-border first leg logistics and warehousing needs.
According to Amazon data, in 2023, Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) and Amazon SEND helped Chinese sellers export and ship hundreds of millions of items.
Peng Jiaqi, Vice President of Amazon China and Head of Product and Seller Education for Amazon's Asia Pacific Global Store, said, "Cross border logistics supply chain management is one of the key capabilities for sellers to expand into the global market and achieve long-term business development. Among them, the first leg logistics, which is the first leg of cross-border travel, is particularly important."
In the first quarter, over 2 billion items were delivered on the same day or the next day
Strengthening global supply chain solutions is one of Amazon's strategic priorities for opening global stores in China in 2024. It is reported that the "2024 Amazon Export Cross border Logistics Accelerator Program" will further deepen support for sellers in the cross-border logistics field from four aspects, including providing more intelligent and diverse cross-border logistics services and products; Simplify cross-border logistics supply chain management and improve cross-border logistics efficiency; Strengthen local team building and empower sellers in all aspects of cross-border logistics; Strengthen local team building and empower sellers in all aspects of cross-border logistics.
Specifically, Amazon Global Logistics has added "Guangzhou Foshan Integrated Pickup" to its existing package pickup area, which is suitable for cross-border cargo transportation in Guangzhou and Foshan, providing more convenient first leg pickup functions for Chinese sellers in the region. At the same time, we will continue to expand new routes from China to more Amazon global sites, supporting sellers in expanding their global business. As Amazon Prime Day approaches in 2024, Amazon Global Logistics will also add 8 exclusive large item warehouses for the peak season in the West Coast to meet the shipping needs of sellers.
Meanwhile, Amazon Global Logistics will continue to accelerate the customs clearance process at European destination ports. For example, after the upgrade of customs clearance processes on German and British routes, the average time from arrival to release of goods will accelerate to about 2 days. In addition, Amazon continuously invests in technological innovation, utilizing leading technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to more accurately predict and respond to customer needs, optimize product storage layout, and improve the efficiency of the entire supply chain.
Data shows that in the first three months of 2024, Amazon once again broke its record for delivery speed to Prime members, with over 2 billion items delivered on the same day or the next day. In March 2024, in over 60 major cities in the United States, 60% of Prime member orders were delivered on the same day or the next day, while in London, Tokyo, and Toronto, three-quarters of Prime member orders were delivered on the same day or the next day.
