Toyota announced on March 28th that its domestic sales in Japan for February were 103946 vehicles, a decrease of 33.3% from the same period last year, marking two consecutive months of decline. The main reason is that Daihatsu Industries and Toyota Automatic Looms under the group have repeatedly exposed certification violations. In addition, snowfall has caused factory shutdowns, resulting in a 12.9% decline in domestic production in Japan.
With the reduction of domestic production and sales, Toyota's global production in February decreased by 2.6% to 7371780 vehicles, and global sales decreased by 6.9% to 7196300 vehicles. Production and sales have declined year-on-year for the first time in 14 and 13 months, respectively.
Japanese media reported that due to consecutive violations, Toyota's annual plan for global production of 10.1 million vehicles and global sales of 10.4 million vehicles may not be achieved.
