On August 29th, Red Star Capital Bureau reported that Tesla (TSLA. US) responded to rumors that Tesla plans to launch a seven seater version of the Model Y produced in China and Europe in October this year, and the Shanghai Gigafactory has already started production of this model. Tesla (TSLA. US) China stated that there are currently no plans to launch related models domestically. Meanwhile, the fact that the Shanghai Gigafactory has produced seven seater versions of the Model Y is' false news'.
Public information shows that in March 2019, Tesla showcased the flexible space of its seven seater version when launching the Model Y. In 2021, Tesla began offering an additional seven seat option in the US market, and currently only some versions of the model support the option. In the Chinese market, Tesla Model Y currently only offers a five seater version.
In September last year, it was reported that the new Tesla Model Y was scheduled to be officially released in the first half of 2024 and was expected to go on sale before the end of the same year, with the first seven seater version launched. However, the 2024 Tesla Model Y, which was launched in February this year, has not yet released a seven seater version.
On June 9th, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on Weibo that Tesla will not launch a "facelift" of the Model Y this year. On July 8th, Musk once again stated that there are no new Model Y models this year and that the related news has damaged the sales of the current Model Y model.
In 2023, Tesla Model Y will become the world's best-selling model with sales exceeding 1.2 million units. In the first half of this year, Tesla Model Y remained the world's best-selling electric vehicle.
