Peek materials are known as the "king of resins" or "king of modified plastics". Due to their lightweight and extreme wear resistance, they are widely used in industrial manufacturing equipment scenarios under high speed and high rigidity conditions.
However, it is worth noting that due to its high performance and complex process, the price of Peek material is higher compared to other modified resins.
In addition, 21st Century Business Herald reporters have learned from multiple channels that the reason for the popularity of Peek materials may be due to experts invited by multiple securities firms speculating during the analysis of Tesla's second-generation Optimus Prime robot that Peek materials may be used to replace some steel and aluminum materials for weight reduction. However, the specific reason for the weight reduction of the robot has not been publicly disclosed.
In addition, there is currently no consensus on whether Tesla Optimus Prime robots will use Peek materials in mass production under extremely high cost management demands.

The data shows that Peek material has a tensile strength three times higher than aluminum alloy and two times higher than steel, and has strong fatigue resistance. According to the data, the price of imported Peek materials is 600 yuan/kg, while the price of domestically produced Peek materials is about 400 yuan/kg. Medical Peek materials require additional sterilization and antibacterial processes, so the price of medical Peek materials will be higher.
Small industries and large spaces
From the perspective of the industrial chain, Peek materials is a very segmented small industry in China.
In terms of Peek material manufacturers, the main domestic supplier is Jilin Enterprise Zhongyan Co., Ltd. (688716. SH), which only went public this year. Peek materials account for 95% of its operating revenue.
According to the prospectus of Zhongyan Group, the main enterprise in the domestic Peek synthesis industry is currently Panjin Weiyingxing, a production base established by British company Weiges in China. The company's client, Shandong Junhao, a subsidiary of Jiangsu Junhua, has completed the Peek production line and is currently in the small-scale trial production stage.
From the upstream of the industrial chain, Peek materials are one of the fluorine chemical products, and their upstream materials mainly include fluoroketones, hydroquinone, and sodium carbonate. Among them, fluoroketone is the main raw material, accounting for more than half of the cost.
According to Zhongyan Group, the company's fluoroketone raw materials mainly come from two companies, Xinhan New Materials (301076. SH) and Yingkou Fuxing. From the data of Qichacha, it can be seen that Liaoning Xingfu New Materials Co., Ltd., the parent company of Yingkou Fuxing, is also a joint venture established by Chen Xuhui, a domestic individual, and Pan Jinwei Yingxing, a subsidiary of Weiges in the UK.
In terms of production capacity, the listed company Xinhan New Materials already has a certain amount of fluoroketone production capacity and is actively expanding its production capacity; Zhongxin Fluorine Materials is one of the few fluoroketone material production enterprises in East China, located in Hangzhou for its fluoroketone fundraising project.
According to statistics from 21st Century Business Herald reporters, since 2021, there have been a total of 13 companies that have explicitly claimed to intersect with Peek materials in investor exchanges. Except for the upstream and midstream enterprises of Peek materials mentioned above, the vast majority of listed companies intersect with Peek materials in downstream medical applications. These companies include Kangtuo Medical, Weigao Orthopedics, Mindray Medical, Aojing Medical, etc.
In general, although Peek material has become a popular Crispy fried chicken, its market capacity is still relatively limited.
For the future, according to a research report by Guojin Securities, there is an urgent demand for lightweight new materials in robotics and 3D printing. PEEK materials have excellent physical properties, current suitable prices, and significant cost reduction potential in the future, which is expected to activate downstream demand.
