Overnight, the chip sector in the US stock market experienced a sharp decline. On Wednesday morning Beijing time, Intel released its latest generation of Core Ultra 200V series chips, which have a total of 9 models.
At the press conference, Intel repeatedly emphasized that its chip performance was stronger than its competitors, but the market did not seem to "buy it". According to Wind data, as of the close of the US stock market on that day, Intel's stock price plummeted by 8.80%, with a drop of up to 59.46% for the year.
Intel announced at the press conference that the first batch of laptops equipped with Ultra 200V chips will be launched on September 24th. Its flagship product Ultra 9 288V can almost match the performance of the Apple M3 in terms of multi-threaded performance/power curve. Under the same performance, it consumes 40% less power than the flagship chip X1E-80-100 of Qualcomm X Elite.

Intel's financial report shows that the company's revenue in the second quarter was 12.83 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 1%; The net loss was 1.61 billion US dollars, compared to a net profit of 1.48 billion US dollars in the same period last year, which turned into a loss year-on-year. Since the beginning of this year, Intel has incurred net losses for two consecutive quarters, with a net loss of $1.99 billion in the first half of the year.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger announced after releasing its second quarter report that the company will lay off 15000 employees. The number of layoffs accounts for 15% of Intel's total workforce, and most of the layoffs will be completed by the end of this year.
Kissinger said that currently Intel's costs are too high and profit margins are too low. In 2024, Intel's revenue did not grow as expected and has not fully benefited from the strong trend of artificial intelligence (AI).
