On March 12th local time, Apple announced a significant adjustment to the download agreement in the European Union, allowing EU users to directly download iPhone applications from developer websites for the first time to comply with the provisions of the EU Digital Markets Act. This change will take effect immediately for Apple users in the EU region.
In addition, this spring, Apple will add a new "Web Distribution" feature that allows developers to distribute iOS applications directly from their own websites. This means that iPhone users can access developers' websites and directly download their applications without the need to use app markets such as the App Store.
However, developers must choose the new App Store business terms in order to use this feature. Apple stated, "When guiding users to complete transactions for digital goods or services on external web pages, developers can choose how to design promotions, discounts, etc."
Yue Zheng, an Internet analyst at China Galaxy Securities Media, believes that Apple has made a series of open adjustments to the EU region this time, which is more flexible than previous ones, providing more flexibility for developers in the EU region, and is expected to help them increase their income in the future. It is recommended to continue tracking the adjustment of Apple's ecological rules in other regions around the world, with a focus on game and app publishers going abroad to the European Union.
