The reporter recently learned from Ford that on May 10th US time, Ford Motor Company announced a senior personnel change: Chief Financial Officer John Lawler will also serve as Vice Chairman of the company, and former Chief Financial Officer Sherry House of electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors will join Ford Motor as Vice President of Finance. She will officially replace Lawler as Chief Financial Officer in early 2025.
The above job changes will take effect in early June.
Ford stated that Rolls Royce will be primarily responsible for the company's strategic development, all current and future global partnerships, and will continue to report to the President and CEO, Jim Farley. "John is an outstanding strategic business leader who can leverage his talent and global experience to help Ford compete and win in this rapidly changing and fiercely competitive environment," said Farley.
Lawler said, "I am honored to take on a broader role in collaborating with Jim to advance our global strategy and leverage my experience, knowledge, and relationships through the Ford+program."
It is understood that Lawler joined Ford in 1990 and has been working at Ford for more than 30 years. He has held various positions in North America, Europe, and Asia. This includes the Chairman and CEO of Ford China, as well as the CFO of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa based in Shanghai.
Farley added, "Sherry's joining has added an important leadership dimension to Ford, as we urgently need to establish a profitable electric vehicle business, create new and recurring sources of revenue, and build a more dynamic and resilient company." Sherry can combine her deep foundation and passion for the automotive industry with practical experience in investment banking, transportation, and technology (including electric vehicles and autonomous driving).
It is reported that House served as Chief Financial Officer at Lucid Motors for nearly three years until resigning from the company in December last year. During his tenure, Lucid Motors successfully went public, began producing and delivering luxury electric vehicles, and opened manufacturing plants in the United States and Saudi Arabia. Before joining Lucid, she held multiple senior leadership positions at Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company headquartered in California, including finance director, and served as investor relations, corporate development, and corporate finance director at different times. Earlier, House worked in the fields of venture capital, private equity, and investment banking for ten years.
House said in a statement, "I am delighted to join such an iconic company at this exciting and important moment for Ford and the automotive industry." "Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to serve as an executive, consultant, and investor in the automotive and technology industry, venture capital, and startups. I look forward to working with Ford's world-class team and utilizing my extensive experience to help Ford compete and win."
