China Economic Net, October 10th (Reporter Jiang Zhiwen) General Motors released data today showing that in the third quarter of this year, its retail sales in the Chinese market exceeded 420000 vehicles, a month on month increase of 14.3%, which is also the largest single quarter increase since the third quarter of 2022.
It is worth noting that General Motors' new energy (including pure electric and plug-in hybrid) models have surpassed gasoline vehicles in sales for the first time. Data shows that General Motors sold over 220000 new energy vehicles in the third quarter, a year-on-year increase of 60.7%, accounting for 52.7% of total sales.

Specifically, in the third quarter, Buick sold over 67000 vehicles, with the Buick GL8 becoming the first model series in the domestic high-end MPV market to exceed 2 million units in production and sales in September. The Buick GL8 family has sold over 27000 units across the entire range, with over 45% of sales coming from its first plug-in hybrid model, the GL8 Land Cruiser PHEV.
Cadillac brand sold over 21000 vehicles. The all-new Cadillac XT5, which was launched in the third quarter, has been widely favored by the market since its release, further consolidating the brand's leadership position in the luxury SUV field.
Chevrolet brand has sold over 8000 vehicles. The full-size SUV TAHOE Tahoe was officially launched in China in the third quarter by General Motors' high-end imported car and lifestyle platform, Daolang. Daolang's first brand center opened in Shanghai in August.
The combined sales of Wuling and Baojun brands under SAIC GM Wuling exceeded 328000 vehicles. Among them, the sales of Wuling Hongguang MINI EV and Wuling Binguo pure electric vehicles exceeded 70000 and 60000 respectively. With the continuous expansion of the electrification product lineup of Wuling and Baojun brands, the company welcomed the production of its 200000th new energy vehicle in August.
