On June 24th, the European Commission announced that it had informed Apple of its preliminary opinion that Apple's App Store rules violated the Digital Markets Act, and that Apple's App Store rules prevented app developers from freely guiding consumers to obtain products and content through other channels.
In addition, the European Commission has launched a new investigation into Apple's non-compliance procedures, as the Commission is concerned that Apple's new contract requirements for third-party application developers and app stores (including Apple's new "core technology fees") may not ensure effective compliance with Apple's obligations under the Digital Markets Act.
