The 500000 production vehicle of NIO was recently taken offline at the NIO Hefei Second Factory located in the Xinqiao Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Park in Hefei. The model is the all-new ES8. Li Bin, founder and chairman of NIO, introduced that on the evening of International Family Day on May 15th, NIO will officially launch its second brand - Ledo.
As a representative of the new force in Chinese car manufacturing, NIO's first mass-produced car in 2018 was the ES8. In 2024, NIO's 500000 mass-produced model was also the all-new ES8. At this point, NIO has completed the development from 10000 to 500000 vehicles in six years.
"For NIO, this is not an easy task. I am particularly grateful for the support of these 500000 users. Whether it is our highlight moments or our darkest moments, users are always loyal and deeply moved." Li Bin believes that NIO's high-end brand positioning has already been established.
In terms of research and development, since 2016, the cumulative R&D investment has exceeded 43 billion yuan, with 12 full stack technology layouts and four core technologies. Our self-developed achievements include laser radar main control chips, vehicle level intelligent driving chips, intelligent chassis systems, and vehicle wide operating systems.
GAC Group and NIO recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement on charging and swapping, which means NIO's "battery swapping alliance" has expanded to seven. Previously, six car companies, including Changan Automobile, Geely Holdings, Chery Automobile, Jiangqi Group, and Lotus, have reached a charging and swapping strategic cooperation with NIO.
"Who had a thousand battery swapping stations waiting for their first car when the brand released it?" Qin Lihong said, "The maturity of the new brand in terms of system is beyond imagination, and the maturity of the entire chain and end-to-end experience is Ledao.". Ledao brand is aimed at the home user market, focusing on the intelligent pure electric vehicle market at the price range of 200000 to 300000 yuan. The release of the new brand means that NIO will enter a new stage of development from 1 to 10 and from 1 to 100.
According to the plan, the high-speed NOA and urban NOA can be opened when the new Ledao car is delivered; Within one year of delivery, Ledao users can use NIO's third-generation and fourth generation battery swapping stations. In terms of sales stores, the Ledao brand channel will reach 200 by the end of 2024, covering 68 cities, and the service network will be fully integrated with NIO brand service network resources.
