Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' parents, Mike and Jackie Bezos, donated $185.7 million to the Aspen Institute this week to establish a new center focused on young people. The center will focus on citizen engagement and leadership development, supplementing the existing youth program portfolio of the Aspen Institute and supporting new initiatives and collaborations. A spokesperson for the non-profit organization Aspen Institute, headquartered in Washington D.C., stated that this donation is the largest in the history of the Bezos Family Foundation and the largest donation the institute has ever received.
As of the end of 2022, the Bezos Family Foundation has assets of $113 million. That year, Mike and Jackie donated Amazon stocks, which would be worth $168 million at current prices, taking into account the stock split in June 2022.
