On May 14th, Alibaba released its performance for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 (i.e. the first quarter of 2024) and fiscal year 2024. The financial report shows that Alibaba's overseas e-commerce business continues to maintain high-speed growth. In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, Alibaba's overseas e-commerce revenue increased by 45% year-on-year, exceeding market expectations for seven consecutive quarters.
The financial report shows that Alibaba's overseas e-commerce performance is mainly driven by the growth of cross-border business, especially the Choice business on the AliExpress platform. In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, the synergy between AliExpress and Cainiao in cross-border logistics further strengthened their competitiveness. The delivery rates of cross-border packages on the 5th and 10th have doubled year-on-year. Choice's competitive product prices and delivery speed have driven AliExpress orders to continue to achieve strong growth.
In April 2024, Choice orders accounted for over 70% of the overall orders on AliExpress. AliExpress has launched Choice overseas based on its custody model, and both fully managed and semi managed products can be marked with the Choice logo to enjoy Choice traffic.
In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, AliExpress increased its investment in key countries to continue improving user experience, expanding consumer coverage, and strengthening its market position. On the supply side, AliExpress has also taken frequent actions this year to help businesses grow. After full hosting, in February of this year, AliExpress launched a semi hosting service, and in just one month, more than 20000 merchant orders increased by over 100%. This trend is still ongoing, and AliExpress merchants are expanding their warehouses to cope with explosive orders.
In April, AliExpress launched the "Billion Subsidized Brands Going Abroad" plan. Merchants can join AliExpress with just one click and sell simultaneously through multiple e-commerce channels under Alibaba International, including Lazada, Miravia, Daraz, and Trendyol, covering key global markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
In addition, insiders of AliExpress have stated that in May, AliExpress will also launch a Super Outbreak Day, which will gather traffic and resources in a simpler way to provide merchants with more certainty about order outbreaks.
