NIO releases four core technologies

Recently, the NIO Day 2023 event was held in Xi'an, and the four core technologies of NIO were released together with the intelligent electric administrative flagship ET9.
As a reflection and achievement of NIO's 12 full stack technology layouts, the four core technologies of self-developed intelligent driving chips, self-developed 900V high-voltage architecture, Tianxing intelligent chassis system, and flagship safety standards can meet users' pursuit of administrative flagship leading technology and define new technological standards for the next generation of high-end intelligent electric vehicles.
At the 2023 NIO Day event, NIO's first self-developed intelligent driving chip, the Shenji NX9031, was officially released. The Shenji NX9031 is an intelligent driving chip manufactured using 5nm automotive technology, with over 50 billion transistors. Based on the powerful concurrent processing capability of CPU computing clusters and abundant memory access bandwidth, it achieves fast and stable processing latency. By using our self-developed image signal processor ISP, we enhance the overall sense of the entire link. Through our self-developed inference acceleration unit NPU (NPU TPP computing power, Total Processing Performance< 4800), we can flexibly and efficiently run various AI algorithms.
The Shenji chip can dynamically wake up various subsystems in microseconds, combined with the strongest safety redundancy capability, bringing a reassuring and efficient intelligent driving experience.
NIO's "Global 900V High Voltage Architecture" has a maximum vehicle voltage of 925V, a peak charging power of 600kW, and a peak charging current of 765A, which can bring better performance output, higher safety standards, and a better comprehensive energy replenishment experience.
It is understood that NIO's new generation 900V high-performance intelligent electric drive platform adopts self-developed and self-produced 1200V silicon carbide power module, W-Pin continuous wave winding process, and a leading and efficient oil cooling system. Advanced technology converges on the 925V continuous wave winding (W-Pin) permanent magnet synchronous rear electric drive, bringing a peak power output of 340kW. Front 180kW induction asynchronous electric drive, lightweight to 69kg, with a power density of up to 2.6kW/kg.
At the same time, NIO also has a "900V super charging and fast swapping platform", and a 3-minute high-speed battery swapping is the only fully automated and non alighting energy replenishment method. The 5C lightning charging has a 5-minute range of 255 kilometers, and overcharging+fast swapping has become the best comprehensive energy replenishment experience at present.
Based on the three major genes of high performance, high safety, and high intelligence, and in advance for intelligent driving, NIO has integrated the three core hardware systems of wire controlled steering, rear wheel steering, and fully active suspension for the first time, creating the "SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System".
The Tianxing wire controlled steering technology is widely used in the aerospace field. The wire controlled steering wheel and steering motor use electrical signal transmission, without the constraints of traditional mechanical structures on shape and space, bringing higher control accuracy and response speed. At the same time, it provides the possibility for advanced intelligent driving.
NIO's "fully active suspension" is an integrated hydraulic fully active suspension, which for the first time highly integrates shock absorbers with active suspension electric drive units. Compared to non integrated active suspension, it has a more compact structure and faster response speed. The fully active suspension core is an active suspension electric drive unit jointly developed by NIO and ClearMotion, with high-frequency response and rapid adjustment, bringing comprehensive improvements in handling, comfort, and safety.
In the era of intelligent electric vehicles, NIO leverages sensing hardware and computing power to continuously explore and expand new safety boundaries, defining flagship level safety standards with over five star active and passive safety, as well as full vehicle safety redundancy.
The ET9 adopts a flying body design, utilizes spatial mechanics structure, and uses high-strength steel, aluminum magnesium alloy, and composite materials to successfully create a vehicle torsional stiffness of up to 52600 Nm/deg for the administrative flagship. At the same time, the NIO ET9 comes standard with 9 safety airbags across the entire series, with oversized side air curtains covering 100% of the protection area for both front and rear passengers. It is also equipped with second row side airbags specifically for rear passengers, providing thoughtful protection for them.
Supersensory system Aquila 2.0 in Aquila constellation, with the addition of bilateral wide-angle LiDAR, the first construction of 350& Deg; Laser circumferential perception system enhances the perception of the side and rear. Ultra long range LiDAR, equipped with the main control chip of NIO Research Yang Jian, provides better and clearer imaging results. At the same time, ET9 has added a 4D millimeter wave imaging radar to enhance the car's perception ability and reduce misjudgment and false braking.
Referring to aviation safety standards and based on the characteristics of intelligent hardware, software, batteries, and electric drive systems, NIO has designed a seven fold safety redundancy for core systems related to driving control. Aviation level security ensures that all systems can operate normally in any extreme scenario. (Chen Xin)
