Tesla announced on December 20th that it will recall 694000 vehicles in the United States due to issues with its tire pressure monitoring system.
On December 20th, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Tesla's recall of vehicles involved the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y models. The tire pressure monitoring system warning lights of these models may not be able to remain illuminated while driving, and may not promptly alert drivers of insufficient tire pressure.
NHTSA stated in its safety recall report released on Tuesday that "driving vehicles with improper tire pressure increases the risk of accidents
Tesla has stated that it will address this issue through free online software updates. The car owner notification letter is expected to be sent out on February 15, 2025.
Tesla has recalled vehicles multiple times this year
And this is not the first time Tesla has faced a recall this year. In November of this year, information disclosed on the official website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States showed that some 2024 Tesla Cybertruck electric pickups were equipped with defective drive inverters, which may cause wheel power loss. Therefore, 2431 Cybertrucks will be recalled.
In October, Tesla recalled over 27000 Cybertrucks due to delayed rearview camera images, which could affect drivers' visibility and increase the risk of collisions. After the recall, the company will conduct a system update on the relevant vehicles to address this issue.
In August, according to the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation, Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting from October 8, 2024, a total of 870 imported Model X electric vehicles produced between March 16, 2016 and July 31, 2016 will be recalled.
Some vehicles within the scope of this recall use adhesive to install the front and middle roof panels to the top of the vehicle, and require the use of primer to increase the adhesion between the two. Due to insufficient primer on the surface of the decorative panel, the adhesion of the panel may weaken over time, and in extreme cases, the panel may detach from the vehicle, posing a safety hazard.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States, Tesla will recall a total of 9136 2016 Model X cars due to the possibility of the decorative panels separating from the vehicles.
Previously, Tesla also conducted vehicle recalls due to loose accelerator pedal pads, windshield wipers, and incorrect font size of warning lights.
