On October 17th local time, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched an investigation into Tesla's Fully Automated Driving (FSD) feature. The announcement shows that the office has received reports that Tesla vehicles with activated FSD function collided in areas with reduced visibility, resulting in casualties. Therefore, the Defect Investigation Office will evaluate the engineering control detection of FSD and its ability to appropriately respond to reduced road visibility. The announcement shows that this investigation involves approximately 2410002 vehicles, including the 2016 to 2024 Model X and Model S, the 2017 to 2024 Model 3, and the 2020 to 2024 Model Y.
