On Wednesday local time, U.S. District Judge P Kevin Castel sentenced 39 year old former Goldman Sachs investment banker Brijesh Goel in Manhattan. Goel was sentenced to 36 months in prison for handing over confidential trading information to a close friend and squash player, and the person made the transaction based on it. The federal jury ruled in June that the former Goldman Sachs vice president was guilty of insider trading and obstruction of justice.
