China is a big manufacturing country, and the development of high-end manufacturing is of great significance to promoting China's industrial transformation and upgrading, consolidating national security, and high-quality economic development.
All along, the Party and the state have attached great importance to the development of the real economy, especially the manufacturing industry, from the "14th Five-Year Plan" outline will "in-depth implementation of manufacturing power strategy" to the Party's 20th report proposed "to promote the high-end, intelligent, green development of manufacturing", around the construction of a modern industrial system, focusing on the construction of manufacturing power to make a comprehensive strategic deployment. In recent years, in the face of the goal of promoting a new type of industrialization, China's manufacturing industry has accelerated its transformation and adjustment to digital, intelligent and green, steadily advancing industrial optimization and upgrading, and constantly strengthening new drivers of economic development. In 2022, the proportion of industrial added value above designated scale in China's high-tech manufacturing industry and equipment manufacturing industry will be 15.5% and 31.8% respectively. In the first eight months of this year, manufacturing investment grew by about 6% year on year, 2.7 percentage points higher than the overall level. Investment in high-tech manufacturing increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year, 8.1 percentage points higher than the overall level. The development of related industries in the field of new energy improved, and investment in the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 19.1%. The equipment manufacturing industry has developed rapidly and its scale has grown steadily, playing a key role in optimizing the supply structure.
Since the beginning of this year, the development momentum of high-end equipment manufacturing industry has improved, and it has become the main force to promote China's industrial growth. Breakthroughs have been made in a number of iconic equipment in the high-end manufacturing field: thermal power units, nuclear power units, hydropower units and UHV power transmission and transformation equipment have entered the "four million" era; 16 MW offshore wind turbines were connected to the grid, the first far-reaching offshore floating wind power platform was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation, and photovoltaic power generation technology broke the world record for battery conversion efficiency several times. Tianzhou 5 fast rendezvous and docking; C919 and ARJ21 two domestic commercial aircraft demonstration flight in Xinjiang; The first domestically built large cruise liner has completed its trial voyage and will start its first commercial operation next year. With innovation as the core driving force of new industrialization, China's key industrial areas have continued to make breakthroughs, and the development of strategic emerging industries has accelerated.
At present, the global economic recovery is weak, the external environment is complex and changeable, and risks and challenges are numerous, but China's high-end equipment manufacturing industry has formed a relatively complete industrial chain, and the international competitiveness of products continues to improve. In the first half of 2023, the advanced manufacturing industry represented by integrated circuits, optoelectronic devices, and new energy vehicles highlighted the engine role in foreign trade import and export, and the increase was significant. Exports of mechanical and electrical products increased by 6.3% year-on-year, accounting for nearly 60% of China's total export value. From January to August, the three major indicators of China's shipbuilding increased comprehensively, and the national shipbuilding completion volume, new ship orders, and hand-held ship orders all maintained double-digit growth, continuing to maintain the world's leading position; High-speed rail, offshore engineering equipment, nuclear power equipment, satellite manufacturing and other systems have gone abroad, and 65 manufacturing enterprises have been listed on the World's top 500 enterprises, forming a group of internationally competitive enterprises. The high-end equipment manufacturing industry has become a new force of export advantage industries, bringing new vitality to the stable scale and excellent structure of China's foreign trade import and export.
High-end equipment manufacturing is a strategic emerging industry that needs more time, space and support to grow.
