The dispute between Ideal Auto and car video blogger "Mr. Dong Talks about Cars" has attracted widespread attention.
Recently, car video blogger "Dong Laosi Talks about Cars" released a video claiming to have received a response notice from the Wujin District Court in Changzhou. Beijing Ideal Automobile Co., Ltd. sued the blogger for the previously released video about Ideal MEGA, which caused damage to MEGA's image and a decline in sales. The blogger is required to apologize in the newspaper and compensate for 1 million yuan in economic losses.
In response, Ideal Auto stated that the video posted by the blogger involved contained a large amount of insulting information that defamed the brand and MEGA models, which had a negative impact on the company. The case is currently under trial in court and it is not convenient to provide further details.
The origin of this dispute can be traced back to March of this year. "Dong Laosi talks about cars" released a 45 second short video remake of the episode of the movie "Crazy Racing" on the Tiktok platform, which won more than 59000 praise and more than 18000 comments on Tiktok. Although the video was taken down within a day of its release, Ideal Auto believes that it has had a negative impact on its MEGA model, leading to a decline in sales.

The "Notice of Response from the People's Court of Wujin District, Changzhou City" in the video released by "Dong Laosi Shuoche" shows that Ideal Automobile believes that the video works of the "Dong Laosi Shuoche" account have all received over 10000 likes, and the content published is related to automobiles. In addition, the business cooperation connection on the homepage makes the account a marketing account. The purpose of creating the video is to attract public attention, gain traffic, and obtain illegal benefits, and there is subjective malice.
According to the public data, the authentication of the Tiktok platform of the account "Dong Laosi Says Che" is "Jinan Arc Sports Culture Media Co., Ltd.". The company was established in July 2022 with a registered capital of 500000 yuan. This account has published over 100 video works, with a fan base of over 350000 and more than 5 million likes.
In response to the accusations from Ideal Auto, "Mr. Dong Talks About Cars" responded in a video stating that they were not instructed by anyone and did not obtain any illegal benefits from the video. Dong Laosi said that his creative content is based on hot topics and results, and the ideal MEGA model has already been launched. Its image and sales are mainly determined by design and price. Meanwhile, 'Mr. Dong Talks about Cars' expressed willingness to communicate with Ideal Automobile and its founder Li Xiang in Beijing to resolve this dispute.
Regarding the dispute between Ideal Automobile and "Mr. Dong Talks about Cars," Lawyer Gao Chunjie from Beijing Daozhang Law Firm believes that "the general public and self media have the right to make reasonable evaluations and discussions on social hot topics, but these have certain limitations and cannot exceed the boundaries of the law, including the so-called jokes created by self media, which cannot rise to serious insults or defamation, and cannot defame the enterprise
When a company believes that a certain statement is suspected of infringing on its reputation and causing harm to its operations, it has the right to protect its rights through legal means, which is a normal act of protecting its rights in accordance with the law. If the related creative videos guide the public to have negative associations with Ideal Automobile, publish insulting remarks, and thus generate negative evaluations and damage consequences, it is suspected of infringing on the company's reputation right, "Gao Chunjie added.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that "Mr. Dong talks about cars" has sparked controversy due to video content. Previously, it was also requested by Xiaomi Auto to remove related videos on the grounds of infringing on reputation rights for repeatedly referring to Xiaomi founder Lei Jun as "Jun'er" in the videos.
