Recently, the Nasdaq exchange released a document stating that it has submitted a proposal to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to tighten the delisting rules for low-priced stocks and increase delisting efforts. The proposal still needs to be approved by the SEC. According to statistics, as of the close of August 9th, a total of 447 companies in the three sectors of Nasdaq had stocks below $1 (accounting for about 20%), and the proportion has been continuously increasing in recent years. Many market participants believe that the current rules of Nasdaq are too loose, leading to the exchange becoming the home of hundreds of high-risk low-priced stocks. The emergence of a large number of low-priced stocks has caused resource accumulation and disrupted the market ecology.
