Affected by a series of scandals, Boeing's sales have been significantly impacted this year. On the 9th local time, Boeing released data showing that in the past month, the company has only sold 14 new aircraft, most of which are cargo planes.
Data shows that in the first half of this year, Boeing's total orders reached 156 aircraft, a decrease of 70% compared to the same period last year. Among them, Boeing sold a total of 14 aircraft in June, a decrease of 95% compared to the sales of 304 aircraft in June last year.
The data also shows that out of the 14 planes sold by Boeing in June this year, only 3 were 737 MAX civilian aircraft. One of the planes sold to Alaska Airlines was used to replace the malfunctioning plane that experienced a door jam accident in January this year.
In terms of delivery, due to legal and production challenges, Boeing delivered a total of 44 aircraft in June, a year-on-year decrease of 27%, but still the month with the most deliveries this year. Boeing has delivered 175 aircraft so far this year, far behind its European competitor Airbus, which delivered 323 aircraft in the first half of the year.
Since the beginning of this year, Boeing has been plagued by numerous aircraft accidents, leading it into a serious crisis. A series of events exposed quality and safety vulnerabilities in Boeing aircraft, leading to the resignation of its chairman, CEO, and business department heads, and exposing Boeing to criticism from US regulatory agencies, the aviation industry, and public opinion.

In October 2018 and March 2019, Lion Air Indonesia and Ethiopian Airlines flights crashed, resulting in a total of 346 fatalities. The crashed planes were both Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
On the evening of July 7th local time, the US Department of Justice announced that Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to fraud in two serious air crashes and is expected to submit a written plea agreement to the court before July 19th. The plea agreement requires approval from a US federal judge to take effect.
A spokesperson for Boeing also confirmed that the company has reached a principle agreement with the US Department of Justice regarding the settlement terms.
However, just as news of Boeing's "confession" came out, another accident occurred on the plane, causing public concern.
On the morning of July 8th local time, a Boeing 757 aircraft took off from Los Angeles International Airport in the United States when one of its tires came off.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of material damage or casualties in this accident. United Airlines also stated that the plane tires have been found and an investigation is underway.
