Bokesi highlighted four potential key areas to further support the development of innovative value chains and achieve the goal of Healthy China by 2030.
One is to continue to strengthen the pricing and payment system to stimulate innovation. China has launched pilot regions to promote the integration of its pricing system with global pricing levels. I believe China will benefit from it, and patients can also benefit from it.
The second is to continue establishing a multi-level medical security system. Since 2020, China has made significant progress in building a multi-level medical security system. In urban areas, many patients have purchased affordable commercial health insurance, providing better medical coverage.
Thirdly, we will continue to establish a seamless connection between medical insurance negotiations and the inclusion of treatment in hospitals. Many first-class and innovative drugs have been included in China's medical insurance, but at the same time, there are still obstacles to including them in hospital formulas. He stated that treatments already included in medical insurance should be automatically linked to hospital prescriptions, rather than requiring a second step of promotion.
The fourth is to continue to strengthen education for patients, so as to better provide them with opportunities to use innovative drugs in medical insurance. He suggested that after China launches the most advanced innovative therapies, it is necessary to provide relevant training and education to doctors and hospitals, and more investment should be made in this area.
