On the afternoon of March 23rd, Huang Kunming, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, met with Wu Delun, Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, and his delegation who were visiting Guangdong. The two sides had exchanges and exchanges on accelerating the construction of the Huizhou project and further deepening and expanding strategic cooperation.
Huang Kunming, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and Government, welcomed the visit of Wooden and his delegation, expressed gratitude to ExxonMobil for choosing, investing in, and rooting in Guangdong, and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Guangdong. He said that in recent years, the strategic cooperation between Guangdong and ExxonMobil has shown a good momentum and fruitful results, especially in promoting the Huizhou project. The two sides have maintained smooth and efficient communication and made positive progress in various work. Foreign funded enterprises represented by ExxonMobil have always been important participants, promoters, and beneficiaries of Guangdong's reform and opening up, as well as an important bridge for Guangdong to connect with the world.     Since last year, Guangdong's economic structure has been continuously improving and its quality and efficiency have been continuously improving, showing a trend of accelerating recovery and showing strong vitality. This has also provided a broader market for the development of the petrochemical industry. We are full of confidence in the development prospects of Guangdong and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and in working together with foreign friends to create a better future. We believe that cooperation between the two sides will have even brighter prospects. We eagerly hope that ExxonMobil will seize the opportunity, seize the momentum, and promote the construction of the Huizhou Phase I project with high quality and efficiency. We will strive to start production and reach production as soon as possible, accelerate the preliminary work of the Phase II project, achieve seamless connection between Phase I and Phase II, better promote product diversification, and form economies of scale. At the same time, we will use more green and low-carbon technologies in Guangdong, actively introduce supporting enterprises, drive the extension and expansion of the industrial chain upstream and downstream, work together to create benchmark cooperation projects, and jointly strengthen and expand the petrochemical industry ecology in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. I hope that ExxonMobil can play a good role as a bridge and link between multinational enterprises and China, attract more excellent international partners to invest and develop in Guangdong, help Guangdong better connect with the global industrial chain innovation chain and commercial network, and showcase an objective and real China to the United States and the world through the development practice of enterprises in Guangdong, making greater contributions to promoting friendly development of Sino US relations and building an open and healthy global economy. Guangdong will vigorously promote the construction of a market-oriented, legal, and internationalized first-class business environment, further facilitate foreign investment, continuously improve service efficiency, and create better conditions for the development of global enterprises in Guangdong.
Wooden thanked Guangdong for its support and assistance to the ExxonMobil Huizhou project, and introduced the progress of business in Guangdong and future development plans. He expressed great pleasure in coming to China again and visiting Guangdong, and was delighted to see the significant progress made in various aspects of Guangdong's development during this visit. With the comprehensive support of Guangdong, the Huizhou project has been progressing smoothly since its launch, and the cooperation between the two parties has been pleasant and smooth. Guangdong's comprehensive infrastructure, efficient construction team, and professional services from various levels of government have left a deep impression on us, making us increasingly aware that investing in Guangdong is the right choice. China is an important component of ExxonMobil's business growth strategy, and Guangdong occupies a unique position and plays an important role in the Chinese business landscape.
