The statement stated that after thoroughly reviewing the data of 40 grounded aircraft, the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States approved this detailed inspection and maintenance plan and convened a corrective action review committee composed of safety experts to review and approve inspection and maintenance procedures.
Federal Aviation Administration Director Mike Whittaker stated that the agency will not agree to Boeing's request to expand production or increase the 737 MAX production line until quality control issues identified during inspections and maintenance are resolved.
