The highly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck pickup truck in the automotive industry may be one step closer to the Chinese market.
Tesla said to reporters that the Tesla Cybertruck cross-country touring show in Chinese Mainland will be opened nationwide at the end of January 2024. At that time, 8 Cyberracks will be unveiled simultaneously in 8 cities in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Xi'an, and Chongqing, showcasing the latest representative work of this brand full of subversion and innovation to enthusiasts.
Previously, at 4am on December 1, 2023, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced at Tesla's Texas Superfactory that the Cybertruck would begin its first batch of deliveries. Musk once described Cybertruck as follows: "Now there is a car here that was once considered impossible, and experts say it will never be manufactured."
Cybertruck has achieved unprecedented breakthroughs in design, materials, and manufacturing in the industry. Tesla's design manager Franz von Holzhusen said in an interview, "Once you drive Cybertruck, you feel that this is the future."
It is reported that Cybertruck truly achieves "greater practicality than trucks and faster than sports cars.". It is the world's first to adopt a stainless steel exoskeleton body, armored glass, and all terrain tires, which are sturdy and durable, and can adapt to various road conditions, even driving on multiple planetary surfaces. Through wire controlled steering and rear wheel steering, the Cybertruck's handling is comparable to that of a sports car, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers in just 2.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 209 kilometers per hour.
Cybertruck, as a "future oriented" product, is equipped with a large number of advanced technologies in the electric vehicle industry. For example, it is the first mass-produced vehicle in the industry to use a 48V low-voltage platform, which can greatly reduce wiring harness connections, make the internal wiring of the vehicle simpler, reduce failure rates, and improve vehicle stability and reliability. Shortly after the delivery of the first batch of Cyberracks, Musk sent engineering documents on how to design a 48V low-voltage architecture car to executives of major automakers. Ford's CEO publicly thanked Tesla for this on social media. This technology not only demonstrates Tesla's consistent spirit of innovation and forward-looking thinking about future modes of transportation, but also reflects Tesla's consistent open approach to the industry.
Cybertruck also represents Tesla's consistent design philosophy of safety, efficiency, simplicity, and prioritizing user experience.
Tesla's design leader Franz stated that Cybertruck has a very aggressive engineering design philosophy and impressive innovation. It is very large in size and operates through a wire controlled steering system, with an amazing turning radius. In the design process of Cybertruck, the team has always hoped to create a product with a futuristic sense of technology, incorporating a lot of innovative points. On the one hand, the use of super strong alloy materials to form a hard and sturdy "exoskeleton" ensures the vehicle's robustness and durability, and also brings ultimate safety. On the other hand, adopting concise solutions makes the manufacturing process easier to implement.
"Cybertruck may be like the Swiss Army Knife, able to integrate all functions, and you can load accessories on the car to achieve rich functionality. We hope to provide Cybertruck owners with a unique experience through these accessories," Franz said. In terms of driving experience, like the Tesla S3XY model, it has a very good interactive interface, comfortable seats, and can be quickly charged.
In 2023, Tesla achieved impressive results in both the Chinese and global markets. On a global scale, the delivery volume of Tesla's entire range of electric vehicles exceeded 1.81 million in 2023, with a growth rate of 38%. Among them, Model Y has historically surpassed traditional fuel vehicles, making electric vehicles the world's best-selling passenger cars for the first time.
In the Chinese market, the Model Y model became the best-selling passenger car of the year in 2023. In addition, the Tesla brand, Model Y, and Model 3 have respectively taken off the top spot in multiple fields such as luxury car brands, overall passenger cars, and luxury sedans.
Tesla stated that after its debut in eight cities, the entire range of Tesla's "S3XY" models will also be showcased nationwide along with Cybertruck.
Gary Blake, co-founder and managing partner of Future Fund, believes that due to pickup trucks occupying a 20% share of the US automotive market, Tesla's total sales in 2022 will be 2.7 million units. Tesla's future sales will significantly increase with the launch of Cybertruck, a Cybertruck pickup truck - and it is expected that Tesla's sales will increase by 53% in 2024.
