On July 16th, Shanghai McDonald's Pudong South Road Xinmei Plaza restaurant officially opened, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shanghai McDonald's. Since the opening of its first store on Huaihai Road in 1994, McDonald's Shanghai has expanded to 16 districts with a total of 500 restaurants.

It is reported that McDonald's Pudong South Road Xinmei Plaza restaurant adopts CUBE style design, inspired by the red food box of Happy Meal, incorporating three major design elements: cube, warm color, and smile; The exterior adopts transparent floor to ceiling large glass windows, paired with distinctive golden arch signs; The restaurant has two levels of space, with a total area of over 500 square meters, and can accommodate 136 customers for dining at the same time. The second floor is specially equipped with a "Happy Magic Box" and a giant "Happy House", where you can find your own happy corner for both family gatherings and small gatherings with friends.
This restaurant is expected to obtain LEED certification for Gold Green Restaurant, reducing its impact on the environment and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction throughout the entire process from site selection and design, building materials and construction, to energy management. As of June 2024, there are nearly 300 LEED certified green restaurants in Shanghai.
According to the relevant person in charge of McDonald's, Shanghai is the headquarters of McDonald's China, and the seventh hamburger university of McDonald's worldwide is also located on the west coast of Shanghai. Shanghai McDonald's provides delicious food and service to citizens through 500 restaurants, while also providing employment opportunities, inclusive care, and training empowerment, continuously focusing on talent development. At present, the total number of employees in McDonald's 500 restaurants in Shanghai is nearly 13000, of which nearly 60% are young people born in 1995. Since 1994, Shanghai McDonald's has provided employment opportunities for approximately 150000 people. In 2024, Shanghai McDonald's plans to recruit over 10000 new employees.
