According to media reports, Tesla is recruiting nearly 800 new employees.
According to media analysis, in recent weeks, these job postings have been continuously appearing on the "job opportunities" page of Tesla's official website, covering both artificial intelligence (AI) experts and more general service positions.
Three months ago, Musk announced in an internal email to employees that he would lay off over 10% of global employees. According to calculations, the number of employees affected by this round of layoffs exceeds 14000, making it the largest round of layoffs in the company's history.
Media analysis suggests that although the 800 new positions are far from the thousands of positions that have been eliminated, the newly released job postings can provide a glimpse into Musk's top priorities for this electric vehicle company.
According to reports, many of Tesla's newly recruited positions are focused on products in the AI and robotics fields, with at least 25 positions related to autonomous driving development or Autopilot, and over 30 positions focused on the humanoid robot "Optimus".
Earlier this week, Musk mentioned on social media that he had requested changes to the front design of Robotaxi, causing a delay in the originally planned release. He added that the extra time will give Tesla the opportunity to showcase more content.
These actions reflect Musk's vision for the company, which he has repeatedly mentioned. He now sees Tesla more as an AI company, robotics company, and sustainable energy company, rather than just an electric vehicle company.
Tesla has recorded 13 days of gains in the past 14 US stock trading days. Many investors believe that the company will eventually bring autonomous driving technology to the market, and these expectations, along with Musk's increasingly optimistic statements, have driven up the stock price.
Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets analyst Tom Narayan said that Tesla's long-term value will come from autonomous taxis and autonomous driving software, even though these products will take years, "autonomous driving will disrupt this industry, that's enough.
However, some analyses suggest that Tesla will face fierce competition when competing for AI and robotics related talents. Musk also acknowledges that Tesla must increase salaries in order to retain those who want to switch to OpenAI or join xAI.
In addition to AI, analysts also see Tesla's rapidly expanding energy storage business as a key long-term growth area, and the company's website page lists dozens of energy storage related positions ranging from engineers to jobs related to installing Megapacks and solar products.
In addition, Tesla's customer facing departments are also looking for additional staff. As of July 15, the company had 268 service related positions listed.
