Analyst Guo Minggui revealed today that Apple will release multiple artificial intelligence features at the upcoming WWDC Developer Conference, at which point Apple will no longer be seen as a laggard in the AI industry.
He stated that AI will be ubiquitous in Apple's main applications, and Apple's user interface design advantages will be fully demonstrated. The improvement of Siri's intelligent assistant is a major highlight of this WWDC. Although the upcoming iPhone 16 memory limitations may pose certain challenges for the application of Local Large Language Model (LLM) technology, Apple plans to improve Siri's response speed and intelligence level by combining local and server-side LLM technology.
In addition, Guo Minggui also mentioned that cloud based LLM models typically require longer training times, which may mean that Apple's server-side artificial intelligence solutions will adopt a gradual release strategy rather than being fully launched at the time of release. Therefore, it may take longer to see whether the new AI features can bring significant revenue and profit growth to Apple.
Regarding the question of whether Apple will collaborate with other artificial intelligence companies such as OpenAI, Guo Minggui downplayed the importance of utilizing external company technology. He believes that Apple's collaboration mainly focuses on the "encapsulation model" of user and application interaction.
However, Guo Minggui does not believe that Apple has made breakthrough progress beyond market expectations. He is skeptical about whether the upcoming iPhone model and its accompanying operating system, which will be released in the fall, can trigger a wave of user upgrades. Guo Minggui pointed out that his survey shows that the shipment volume of iPhone 16 series in the second half of 2024 may be slightly lower than the same period of iPhone 15 series in 2023.
