As more and more users get their hands on Apple's iPhone 15 series models, the related usage problems are gradually exposed. Complaints about the new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models overheating were widespread, with users claiming on Apple's official iPhone community forum that the titanium case was too hot to hold.

One user wrote on Apple's official forum: "I bought the new iPhone 15 Pro and it's too hot to hold. Can I leave it charging for a long time?" The question got hundreds of "me too" hits from users.
There have also been user complaints on social platforms X and Reddit about Apple's iPhone 15 Pro series overheating. Another person on the Apple forum posted that the thermometer on the side of the phone showed a temperature of 44 degrees Celsius.
Apple has not yet made an official response to the overheating issue, nor has it publicly responded to users' problems on official forums.
However, the company's customer support page notes that devices can get hot during initial setup, wireless charging, or when users are using graphics-intensive or processor-intensive applications, such as gaming.
In fact, it is not only the iPhone 15 Pro that has overheating problems, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max also have similar overheating conditions. The iPhone 15 Pro series shell uses titanium metal, which is thinner than the stainless steel metal of the iPhone 14 Pro, although the properties of the two are similar in terms of thermal conductivity, but due to the lighter material of titanium metal, less heat absorption, which leads to the poor heat dissipation of iPhone 15 Pro users may be more significant.
According to Apple's official website, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are built with a strong and lightweight aviation-grade titanium metal, bringing Apple's lightest Pro models ever. It has also become a big selling point for the company as it promotes this year's new iPhone Pro models.
Tianfeng International Securities analyst Guo Ming𠫓¹ specifically pointed out on the X platform: "The overheating problem of the iPhone 15 Pro series has nothing to do with TSMC's 3-nanometer chip manufacturing process He said that the overheating problem is likely to be "Apple's compromise on the design of the heat dissipation system in order to make the phone lighter, such as the heat dissipation area is smaller, and the use of titanium alloy affects the heat dissipation effect."
Guo Ming𠫓¹ believes that Apple may solve the problem through software updates, but unless it is by reducing the performance of the processor, the improvement in heat dissipation is likely He also said that if the cooling problem is not fixed, it could affect iPhone Pro sales.
Tests by iFixit, an iPhone repair website, showed that the titanium alloy iPhone 15 Pro and the stainless steel iPhone 14 Pro were not as good at conducting heat as the aluminum alloy used in the basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models. But Apple can reduce the heat generated by the phone by reducing the peak performance of the phone's processor.
Ben Wood, chief analyst at CCS Insight, said that even if Apple introduced a software update to limit peak processor performance, the vast majority of phone users would not notice the performance changes. He also said that based on past practice, the overheating issue will not lead to a recall of Apple's phones.
Apple's high-end iPhone Pro models have been the company's main product line in recent years to maintain high gross margins on mobile phones. Market forecasts also show that demand for Pro models has grown significantly since the release of the iPhone 14, and shipments have even exceeded the basic model, especially in emerging markets such as China and India.
The first financial reporter inquired about Apple's official website in China and found that the delivery cycle of iPhone 15 Pro was shortened from last week, and the current order is expected to be shipped for 2-3 weeks; But the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a longer estimated shipping date of 5-6 weeks. The basic iPhone 15, by contrast, doesn't have to wait.
Broker Wedbush said that most of the early pre-orders for Apple's iPhone 15 series came from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is a positive for Apple, because the average selling price (ASP) of the Pro series is higher, which is conducive to improving the company's profit margin. The company expects Apple's iPhone 15 series ASP to be around $925, about $100 higher than the same period last year, including a 9% price increase for the Pro Max model, the first price increase in five years.
