On September 14th local time, Jon Holden, the union leader of Boeing, stated in an interview with National Public Radio (NPR) that the strike at Boeing "may continue for some time" because workers believe they can receive greater salary increases and better pensions.
On the night of September 13th local time, approximately 33000 workers at Boeing's assembly plants in Seattle and Portland voted to go on strike to express dissatisfaction with the latest labor agreement reached between Boeing and the International Federation of Mechanical and Aerospace Workers (IAM), which represents Boeing workers. The strike will officially begin at midnight local time on September 14th.
Subsequently, international rating agency Fitch Ratings stated that if Boeing employees extend their strike, it will bring the risk of Boeing's credit rating downgrade and affect the company's operations and financial condition. Fitch also stated that if the current strike can end within two weeks, it is unlikely to put pressure on the rating. Previously, S&P Global Ratings also stated that the ongoing strike may affect Boeing's rating.
